Underrated Attractions in the Magic Kingdom

Many Guests who enjoy a vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort love to spend a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom thanks to its amazing attractions, dining, entertainment, shopping, and more. The Disney Park first opened on October 1, 1971 and has been continuing to expand and grow ever since while maintaining classic experiences that Guests know and love. While popular experiences like Space Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train always feature long wait times, there are a number of experiences in the Magic Kingdom that can be considered underrated. These wonderful experiences are no less amazing than their popular counterparts and should not be overlooked. Let’s check out some of the most underrated attractions in the Magic Kingdom!

Swiss Family Treehouse

Swiss Family Treehouse

Just inside of Adventureland is a massive tree that ironically gets completely ignored by many Guests. The Swiss Family Treehouse is a walkthrough attraction that tells the story of the famous Robinson family who found themselves shipwrecked on a remote island. Guests who enter the attraction wind their way up through the tree to see how the family used their limited resources to create a warm and inviting home amongst the leaves. Not only are the scenes charming and fun to explore, but the views of the Magic Kingdom from the top of the Swiss Family Treehouse cannot be beat.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Just steps away from the Swiss Family Treehouse is another attraction that tends to be looked past in favor of the nearby Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a spinner-style attraction similar to Dumbo, but intricately themed to make Guests feel as though they are in Agrabah. Guests can board their own magic carpets and take to the skies circling the Genie’s magic lamp. Depending on whether they sit in the front or back, Guests can raise and lower their carpets as well as control the angle of tilt for an interactive and fun ride through the skies of Adventureland that really shouldn’t be skipped.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

The final underrated attraction in Adventureland can be found directly across from The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and has a rich history going back to Walt Disney himself. Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room was an opening day attraction that originated in Disneyland and welcomes Guests into a circular theater where the entertainment all happens above. An array of tropical birds, flowers, and tikis put on a spectacular show that features humor, special effects, and the beloved song “In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room.” With the chance to sit down and relax in air conditioning and enjoy the unique show, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room shouldn’t be overlooked.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree

Moving into Frontierland, an underrated attraction recently received a facelift that is making it more relevant with Guests. Country Bear Musical Jamboree opened with the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971 and has been amazing Guests with an ensemble of singing bears and critters ever since. This recent update has the bears singing a medley of classic Disney songs with fresh costumes and jokes. Country Bear Musical Jamboree is sure to have Guests clapping and stomping along to unforgettable numbers and should not be considered underrated.

Mickey's PhilharMagic

Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom is home to plenty of classic attractions including Peter Pan’s Flight, “it’s a small world,” Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in addition to an underrated experience. Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a wonderful 3D show that welcomes Guests into a theater where Mickey is to perform a wonderful concert with a full orchestra. Donald Duck quickly gets involved and chaos ensues as Mickey’s sorcerer hat goes missing. What follows is a medley of favorite scenes and songs from Disney films including Coco, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and more. Guests should not miss out on Mickey’s PhilharMagic and will be sure to find themselves singing along!

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

Guests who spend time in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom often gravitate towards the popular Space Mountain and TRON Lightcycle / Run, but there is also a wonderful attraction that has been performing for years. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress originally opened at the 1964 New York World’s Fair before moving to Disneyland and ultimately Walt Disney World. This unique experience welcomes Guests into an innovative theater that rotates through scenes depicting one family enjoying all the changes that time and technology bring about. With nostalgic scenes, clever dialogue, and the beloved “There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is a classic Magic Kingdom attraction that should not be missed.

Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor

Also found in Tomorrowland is an interactive attraction that is sure to leave Guests laughing hysterically. Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor is located next to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and welcomes Guests to enter the city of Monstropolis where the monsters have learned that laughs generate power. What follows is a unique show featuring stand up monster comedians who interact with the audience in real time. Guests can send in jokes before their show begins and some running gags continue to make audiences crack up every time. Guests should not skip a visit to Monster’s Inc. Lugh Floor in the Magic Kingdom – just try not to be “that guy!”
