Theming

The Deluxe Disney Resort is themed to feel like the stunning lodges found in the National Parks of the Northwest. The theming immediately welcomes Guests as they pull up to the main building with its American Craftsman style architecture with a forest green roof and rustic wooden exterior. The lobby is a massive seven story open atrium that features soaring lodgepole pine logs, an eighty-two-foot-tall stone fireplace that represents the layers of the Grand Canyon, and plenty of tucked away corners and fireplaces.

In addition to the larger features of the main lobby area at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, there are also plenty of subtle details that help to bring the theme to life. This includes chandeliers adorned with rawhide and scenes of Native Americans and cowboys, a Hopi storm pattern designed woven into the flooring, and much more. Guests can find charming details and artwork in nearly every corner.

Also found in the lobby is a small hot spring which runs down the rocky waterfall found outside and into the Copper Creek Springs Pool found below. Those who follow the path of the spring can also find the Fire Rock Geyser which erupts every hour in a one hundred- and twenty-foot-high spray.

Transportation

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge features two main types of transportation. Buses run regularly from outside the main entrance to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. Guests heading to the Magic Kingdom also have the option of taking a boat from the dock along Bay Lake which brings them right to just outside the Disney Park’s main entrance.
